Roofing & Exteriors — What's Actually Different

A full sweep of ServiceTitan's docs turned up only ~7 genuinely roofing-specific articles — everything else under the site's roofing path is the same generic platform content already covered by the 10 core roles. This addendum covers the part that's actually unique: aerial measurement and the insurance claims workflow.

EagleView Spec-Based Estimates Xactimate Insurance Queue Private Preview

Read this as an addendum to Sales Rep / Comfort Advisor and Project Manager / Coordinator specifically, not a replacement for them. Everything else in a roofing business — CSR, Dispatcher, Technician, Marketing, Bookkeeper, Owner/GM — runs on the same 10 role docs already built. Only estimating and claims handling are materially different.

What's different

Three roofing-specific systems

Aerial measurement feeds the estimate, the estimate splits into retail and insurance versions organized by structure, and the insurance claim itself runs through a dedicated task pipeline.

1

EagleView — aerial measurement & estimating

Orders a satellite/aerial measurement report and feeds it directly into a Spec-Based Estimate — no manual roof takeoff.

Setup (office, one-time)
Measurement IntegrationsSpec-Based Templates
  • Connect the EagleView account, then map Spec-Based form fields to EagleView data placeholders (Roof Area, Facets, Predominant Pitch, Eaves, Rakes).
  • Set up EagleView Alerts — these only reach the assigned technicians and whoever ordered the report.
Ordering & using a measurement
  • Order from the Location Record or Job record; map view allows up to 30 pins, but multi-pin ordering is restricted to Commercial/Multi-Family properties only.
  • Orders go Processing → Ready. A rejected order posts its failure reason in the job's Audit Trail.
  • Once Ready: Create Estimate, Download, View, Upgrade Report, or Deactivate.
Formula trap [Predominant Pitch] returns a string, not a number — it breaks if used directly in a formula expecting a numeric result.
2

Insurance Estimates — structures, Xactimate, dual estimates

Insurance work organizes line items by physical structure — Dwelling, Detached Garage — because that's how adjusters and Xactimate expect damage scoped.

Setup (office, one-time)
Settings > Estimates > Structures
  • Review/add the structure list; drag-and-drop order determines display order on the estimate.
  • Optionally configure Insurance mode inside a Spec-Based Estimate Template so one inspection auto-generates two estimates: a standard "good faith" estimate and an insurance estimate with Xactimate line items by structure.
Building an estimate
  • Manual: Estimate Type = Insurance unlocks an Insurance Financial section (ACV, RCV, O&P, Tax, NRD) not present on standard estimates. Structures are required for organizing line items.
  • SBET method (recommended, faster): select structures on the inspection form — both estimates generate together with correct groupings.
$0 isn't an error Xactimate catalog items show $0 pricing until processed through the integration or the AI PDF parser — that's the expected pre-processing state.
3

Insurance Queue — the claims task pipeline Private Preview

A centralized six-stage pipeline connecting field reps, estimators, and office staff on the same claim.

ProspectScopeEstimateSupplementProposal ReviewContract
Setup (office, one-time)
  • The task template is a customizable Excel file — Work Stage, Task Name, Sub-tasks, Assignment, days-to-complete, Dependency, description. Submit the customized copy to Customer Success to upload — not self-service.
  • Configure dependencies deliberately — a task won't unlock until its prerequisite completes.
Running a claim
  • Record Insurance Information once on the job (claim #, carrier, dates, adjuster) — it syncs to every task tied to it.
  • Apply the Task Template rather than building tasks one-off, for standardization across reps.
  • Use the filter bar (stage, assignee, claim #, carrier) to manage volume during storm season.
Handoff point Once a claim clears Proposal Review into Contract, move the job to the Production Queue so material orders, permits, and post-Supplement tasks can start — the Insurance Queue's job ends there.
